what are the differences about past tense and past continuous? please describe about that!

past tense is indicates actions or situations that happend in a particular time in the past. (s+v2+o). ex= I wasn't a student last year .. (masih belum diketahui masih kah saya bersekolah sekarang.. jadi hanya terjadi di waktu lampau)

past continuous is indicate that a longer action in the past was happend until now. (sesuatu terjadi diwaktu lampau dan masih berlanjut/dikerjakan sampai sekarang)
